Robert Mochkovitch

Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris, France

Robert is a French astrophysicist based in Paris. Over the course of his career, he has worked on stellar cataclysms—first on supernovae and later on gamma-ray bursts, which are the most violent explosions in the Universe. He enjoys teaching and has taken part in numerous science outreach activities, including visits to classrooms (from kindergarten to university), public lectures, and more. He has also been interested in how science is represented in art and in comic books. Together with Roland Lehoucq he published a book on the adventures of Tintin, “But Where on Earth Is the Temple of the Sun? A Scientific Investigation in the Land of Hergé.” Their claim to fame: having used astronomy to pinpoint the location of the famous Temple of the Sun, which was supposed to remain secret forever!
